Onboarding
Welcome! The onboarding flow is where you set up your account for the first time. It's designed to be quick — most photographers complete it in about 10 minutes.
What Happens During Onboarding
Onboarding walks you through four key steps:
1. Connect Your Website
First, you'll link your photography website to your account. We support WordPress, ShowIt, Wix, and Squarespace.
The connection process varies by platform:
- WordPress: You'll need your site's URL and an application password. We walk you through generating one in your WordPress admin panel.
- ShowIt: You'll authorize the connection through ShowIt's OAuth system — essentially, you log into ShowIt and approve the connection.
- Wix: You'll provide your site URL. We connect through Wix's API using your account credentials.
- Squarespace: Connection is read-only for now — we generate content that you copy-paste into Squarespace's editor.
Have your website login credentials ready before you start. For WordPress, you'll also want to be logged into your WordPress admin in another browser tab.
For detailed platform-by-platform instructions, see Connecting Websites.
2. Tell Us About Your Photography Business
Next, we'll ask about your business so we can generate content that resonates with your audience:
- Your photography niche – Wedding, portrait, commercial, real estate, event, or something else
- Your location – The geographic area you serve
- Your ideal client – Who you most want to attract (e.g., engaged couples, small business owners, real estate agents)
- Your unique style or approach – What sets you apart from other photographers
This information helps our AI understand your brand voice and target audience.
3. Set Content Preferences
Now you'll tell us what kind of content you want:
- Writing tone – Professional, friendly, casual, or luxurious
- Post length – Short (300–500 words), medium (500–800 words), or long-form (800–1200 words)
- Topics you want to cover – Choose from categories we suggest or write your own
- Topics you want to avoid – Anything you'd rather not have posted on your blog
You can always change these later from your Content Preferences page.
4. Choose Your Publishing Schedule
Finally, set how often you want new posts:
- Weekly – One post per week
- Bi-weekly – One post every two weeks
- Monthly – One post per month
- Custom – Set your own frequency
You can also choose whether posts publish automatically or wait for your review. Learn more in Publishing.
After Onboarding
Once you complete onboarding, you'll land on your Dashboard. Your first batch of topic ideas will be ready within 24 hours. From there, you can:
- Review and approve topic suggestions
- Customize generated posts before they publish
- Adjust your schedule or content preferences
- Connect additional websites (on Growth and Studio plans)
You can pause or restart onboarding at any time. If you need help with a specific step, the Troubleshooting page covers the most common issues.
