Connecting ShowIt

ShowIt is a popular choice among photographers for its beautiful, drag-and-drop design capabilities. Connecting ShowIt to The Photographers' Blogger is straightforward.

What You'll Need

Before starting, make sure you have:

  1. Your ShowIt website URL
  2. Your ShowIt login credentials (the email and password you use for your ShowIt account)

Why ShowIt Is Different

Unlike WordPress, ShowIt uses an OAuth authorization system. This means:

Step 1: Initiate the Connection

  1. In The Photographers' Blogger dashboard, go to Settings → Websites
  2. Click Connect New Site
  3. Select ShowIt from the platform list
  4. Click Connect with ShowIt

Step 2: Authorize in ShowIt

A new window will open (or redirect you) to ShowIt's authorization page:

  1. If prompted, log into your ShowIt account
  2. Review the permissions we're requesting
  3. Click Authorize or Allow to approve the connection
  4. You'll be redirected back to your dashboard

Step 3: Verify the Connection

Once redirected, you should see your ShowIt site in your connected sites list with a green Connected indicator.

If you don't get redirected automatically, close the ShowIt tab and check your connected sites list. The connection is often already established even if the redirect doesn't complete.

Managing ShowIt Blog Settings

After connecting, you may want to check your ShowIt blog settings to ensure new posts appear where you want them. In your ShowIt editor:

  1. Go to Blog settings
  2. Verify the post layout and display options
  3. Make sure the blog page is published and accessible from your navigation

Disconnecting ShowIt

To disconnect your ShowIt site from your dashboard:

  1. Go to Settings → Websites
  2. Click Disconnect next to the ShowIt site

To revoke access from ShowIt:

  1. Log into your ShowIt account
  2. Go to Account → Connected Apps
  3. Find The Photographers' Blogger
  4. Click Revoke Access

Troubleshooting

"Authorization failed" Try clearing your browser cache and reconnecting. Make sure pop-ups are not blocked in your browser.

"Site not showing after authorization" Make sure your ShowIt blog is published and set to public. Private or unpublished blogs won't be accessible.
