Connecting Squarespace
Squarespace is beloved by photographers for its stunning templates and clean design. Currently, Squarespace connections are read-only — we generate the content, and you copy-paste it into your Squarespace site.
Auto-publishing for Squarespace is on our roadmap. We'll notify all Squarespace users as soon as it's available. In the meantime, our manual workflow is designed to be as quick as possible.
What You'll Need
Before starting, make sure you have:
- Your Squarespace site URL
- Owner or admin access to your Squarespace account
- A blog page already set up on your Squarespace site
Step 1: Connect in Your Dashboard
- In The Photographers' Blogger dashboard, go to Settings → Websites
- Click Connect New Site
- Select Squarespace from the platform list
- Enter your Squarespace site URL
- Click Connect
Step 2: Authorize the Connection
A Squarespace authorization window will open:
- Log into your Squarespace account if prompted
- Review the permissions
- Click Allow to authorize
- You'll be redirected back to your dashboard
How Manual Publishing Works
Since auto-publish isn't available yet, here's your workflow:
- We generate a post and mark it as Ready to Publish
- You open the post in our editor
- Click Copy to Clipboard — this copies the formatted post content
- Go to your Squarespace site's blog editor
- Create a new post and paste the content
- Add your featured image and publish
Because Squarespace handles images differently, you'll need to upload any featured images or inline photos manually. We include image placeholders in the copied content so you know exactly where each image goes.
What We Can Do on Your Squarespace Site
Since the connection is read-only:
- ✅ Verify your site exists and is active
- ✅ Generate properly formatted content for you to copy
We cannot:
- ❌ Auto-publish posts (coming soon)
- ❌ Create or modify pages
- ❌ Access your content or media library
- ❌ Delete anything from your site
Step-by-Step: Publishing to Squarespace
Here's a detailed walkthrough of the manual publish process:
- In your dashboard, go to the Content section and find posts with the Ready to Publish status
- Open the post and review the content
- Click the "Copy to Clipboard" button
- Open a new tab and log into your Squarespace site
- Go to Blog → New Post
- Paste the content — our formatting (headings, lists, bold text) should carry over
- Upload your featured image — click the image area and select a photo from your Squarespace media library
- Add or adjust categories/tags as needed
- Set the publish date and time
- Click Publish
Squarespace Post Formatting Notes
When pasting into Squarespace:
- Headings should transfer correctly, but you may need to adjust the heading level (H2, H3) in Squarespace's editor if it doesn't match
- Links should be preserved, but double-check that they link to the right places
- Images won't transfer — you'll need to add them manually
- Bold and italic text should transfer correctly
Disconnecting Squarespace
To disconnect:
- Go to Settings → Websites in your dashboard
- Click Disconnect next to your Squarespace site
- Confirm
You can also manage connected apps from your Squarespace account settings.
Troubleshooting
"Connection succeeded but site data not loading" This is normal for read-only connections. As long as you see a Connected indicator, everything is working.
