Connecting WordPress

WordPress is the most popular platform among our users — and the easiest to connect. With a WordPress connection, we can auto-publish posts directly to your site.

What You'll Need

Before starting, make sure you have:

  1. Your WordPress site URL (e.g., yourphotographyblog.com)
  2. Admin access to your WordPress admin panel
  3. An application password (explained below)

Step 1: Generate an Application Password in WordPress

WordPress requires an application password for third-party tools to connect securely. Here's how to create one:

  1. Log into your WordPress admin panel (usually yoursite.com/wp-admin)
  2. Go to Users → Profile (or hover over Users in the sidebar and click Profile)
  3. Scroll down to the Application Passwords section
  4. In the "New Application Password Name" field, enter "The Photographers' Blogger"
  5. Click Add New Application Password
  6. WordPress will generate a password — it looks like a long string of letters and numbers separated by spaces

Copy this password immediately. WordPress will only show it once. If you lose it, you'll need to delete it from your profile and generate a new one.

Step 2: Connect in Your Dashboard

  1. In The Photographers' Blogger dashboard, go to Settings → Websites
  2. Click Connect New Site
  3. Select WordPress from the platform list
  4. Enter your WordPress site URL
  5. Paste the application password you generated
  6. Enter your WordPress username (the username you use to log into your admin)

Step 3: Verify the Connection

After submitting, we'll test the connection. If successful, you'll see:

If the connection fails, double-check:

What We Can Do on Your WordPress Site

Once connected, we can:

We cannot:

We create a dedicated category called "The Photographers' Blogger" so you can easily identify which posts came through our platform. You can change or remove this category after posting.

Disconnecting WordPress

To disconnect your WordPress site:

  1. Go to Settings → Websites in your dashboard
  2. Click the Disconnect button next to the site
  3. Confirm the disconnection

You can also revoke the application password in your WordPress profile at any time.

Troubleshooting

"Application password not working" Make sure your site is using the standard WordPress REST API. Some managed WordPress hosts (like WP Engine) may have additional security settings. Contact support and we'll help you sort it out.

"Connection was lost" Your application password may have been revoked. Generate a new one in WordPress and update the connection in your dashboard.
